The history of the department

The Department of Geography and Tourism of the Faculty of History serves the specialties 6B01506- “Geography” (since 2004), 6B11101- “Tourism” (since 2010), 6В01511- “Geography – history” (since 2017).

For the first time in 1990, at the initiative of Professor M.A.Arynov, specialty 030640 History and Geography was opened on the basis of the Department of General History and Geography of the Historical Faculty of  Aktyubinsk Pedagogical Institute. In 1995, the first issue of specialty 030640 “History and Geography” was implemented.

In 2004, the specialty 050116- “Geography” was opened for the first time and the Department “Methods of Teaching History and Geography” was organized. Ph.D., associate professor Kubesovа G.T. was appointed the head of the department.

In 2006-2012, within the specialty “Geography”, additional educational “Tourism”, “History”programs (specializations) were implemented.

In 2010, the specialty 6B11101- “Tourism” was opened, in 2017. – 6В01511- «Geography-History».

Currently, 5 candidates of sciences, 6 master’s degrees and 2 senior teachers work at the department.

The qualitative composition of the faculty is 50%. The average age of PPP with academic degrees is 40 years.

From 2014 to 2017 the candidate of geological and mineralogical sciences, associate professor Bulekbaeva ZeynullaYeleuovich worked at the department.

In 2017 master of geography Abdullin A.G. entered the PhD doctorate in specialty 8D01506 “Geography” at L. Gumilev ENU.

In 01.09.2017 Master of Pedagogical Sciences in 7М01506 Geography Ismayilova М.М., Master of Pedagogical Sciences in 7М011400 “History” was accepted at the department. Seminar E.

In Aktobe region from 25 to 29 June 2018 was held the international youth festival “Khan Koryk”, which was attended by teams from 17 universities of Russia, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, which was attended by 130 people. During the festival were visited the natural, historical and cultural heritage of Kobda, Oyil and Alga regions.

In 2018-2019 academic years from 30.09 to 18.10.2018 German SES expert Gerd Ritthaller gave lectures to students of tourism specialty, held seminars and master classes, and shared experiences with faculty members.

In 2018, the department was accepted by young teacher, master B.Umirbaev.

In the 2017-2018 academic year the 2nd year students of the specialty “Tourism”: A.Albekova, A.Zhalgasova under the International academic mobility program studied at the University of Economics in Bydgoszcz, Poland, in the 2nd half of 2018-2019 academic year the 2nd and 3rd year students of the specialty “Tourism” D.Zholaman, A.Bolatova, A.Markabayeva study in Kastamonu, Turkey.

In 2019, the department accepted a young specialist, master M. Zh. Omirzakova

In 2020, master of geographical Sciences A. G. Abdullina graduated from the doctoral program of the L. Gumilyov ENU in the specialty 8D01506 – “Geography” on the basis of a targeted grant and was re-employed at the Department.

In 2019, a magistracy was opened in the specialty 7M01506 – «Geography».

In the 2020-2021 academic year, the first undergraduates for the specialty were accepted on the basis of a state grant

In connection with the organization of the educational process in a remote format during the pandemic, teachers of the Department have passed special IT courses, are certified, and are currently taking additional courses.

In 2020, teachers of the Department «Geography and tourism» EP 6B11101 – «Tourism» took part in a foresight session on the topic «ATLAS of NEW PROFESSIONS and competencies of the tourism industry», organized as part of the Atlas of new professions in Kazakhstan project.

In addition, from 05.10.2020 to 17.10.2020, teachers of this ЕP Аidarova A. Z., Umirzakova M. Zh. successfully completed a course on «Practical skills of a travel Agency Manager in Kazakhstan», organized by the Kazakhstan tourist Association.

September 20, 2020 in L.N. Gumilyov ENU has started the XII Republican student subject Olympiad in the specialty 6В11101 -“Tourism”, which was organized by the Department of “Tourism” of the Faculty of Economics.

According to the results of the Olympiad, the team of speciality  6В11101 -“Tourism”, our university was awarded the nomination “The most creative project”.

According to the Independent accreditation and rating Agency in the «National ranking of demand for universities in Kazakhstan – 2020» EP 6B01506 – «Geography» of the University of ARSU named after K. Zhubanov took 1st place among universities in Kazakhstan.
