The history of the department

Aktobe Regional University named after K. Zhubanov began its history with the establishment of the institute in 1931, and the two-year historical department for training specialists began its work in 1935.  In 1987, he continued training specialists as part of the faculty, which was transformed into the historical and pedagogical Faculty. In order to train highly qualified historical specialists for educational institutions of the West Kazakhstan region, in 1989 it was transformed into a separate historical faculty, where it worked as the departments of “History of the USSR” and “World History”.

In 2004 with the establishment of two universities Aktobe state University named after K. Zhubanov Aktobe state pedagogical Institute was established in the Department of history of Kazakhstan (head Ph. D., associate Professor Ismagulov U. S.) and history (supervisor: Ph. D., associate Professor Medeubaev E. I.), which train specialists in the field of “020300-history” (5 years) (bachelor’s degree). The dean of the faculty was Izbasarova G. B., Ph. D., Associate Professor. As young specialists, graduates of the Faculty of different years were invited: Aman A. B., Moden A. T., Duisengali M. N., Kalybayeva A. Zh., Sakibaev R. U. etc.

In 2010, the two departments were merged and renamed the Department of history, the Department was invited Ph. D., Professor of Gumagalaw T. S. In order to increase the number of specialties, which the staff of the Department prepared in 2009 was opened the specialty “6m020300-history” the master, “5в050500-regional studies” on the bachelor. The department employed 2 doctors of Science, 7 candidates of Science and several Masters of Science.

In May 2013, two fundamental universities of Aktobe were merged and at the time of the creation of the Aktobe Regional State University named after K. Zhubanov were formed at the beginning of the 2013-2014 academic year as the Department of “History and Regional Studies” in the profile of specialties prepared by the department. The department has trained specialists in the specialties “5B020300-history”, “5B050500-regional studies”, “6M020300-history”. The head of the department was Doctor of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor Ismagulov U. Sh.2 doctors of sciences, 5 candidates of sciences, 3 senior teachers, three masters worked at the department.

In April 2015, the department’s specialties passed specialized accreditation by the independent accreditation and rating agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan for a period of 5 years.

In May 2019, the Department was merged with the Department of History and Religious Studies and renamed the Department of History and Religious Studies. Head of the department, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor Izbasarova G. B. The staff of the department consists of 24 teachers. Of these, 4 doctors of Science, 10 candidates of Science, 7 masters and 3 senior teachers. Among the teachers – “excellent students of education of the Republic of Kazakhstan”, holders of the Order” Kurmet”. The scientific quality is 92.3%, taking into account the master’s degree of 61.5%.

The department trains specialists at the bachelor’s level in the OP “6B02201-history”, “6B01601-history”, “6B012900-Geography-History”, “6B01602-history-Religious Studies”, at the master’s level in the OP” 7M01601-history”,” 7M020300-history”, at the doctoral level in the OP”8D02201-history”.

The educational programs “6B02201-history”, “6B012900-Geography-History”, “7M020300-history”, developed by the Department of History and Religious Studies, in April 2020, passed specialized accreditation by the independent accreditation and rating agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan for a period of 5 years, and the NGO “6B01601-history” for a period of 7 years.

On its historical path, the Department of “History and Religious Studies”, as one of the main departments of the region, which trains historians, has always been interested in the education of local youth.
